Our Team
Liberty Family Church is overseen by an Eldership team chosen to lead and care for the members of our church community.
Elders at Liberty are selected by members of the Eldership group in line with biblical criteria (1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1:6-9).
Members of our church community serve alongside the Elders on the committee of our incorporated association (Liberty Family Church Inc), known as our Church Council.
Our leadership team oversees the various areas of church life and ministry in line with our vision, mission, and values.
Eldership
rev. garry maningas / ELDER / lead pastor
Rev. Garry Maningas is an ordained Baptist pastor with the Baptist Union of Victoria and completed his Master of Divinity through Whitley College (University of Divinity) in 2025. He is married to Elvie, and together they have three children. He enjoys playing table tennis and archery with his kids and deeply values family life.
Garry understands his calling as an under-shepherd serving under the Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ. At the heart of his ministry is pastoral care, walking closely with people in every season, especially those who are suffering or brokenhearted. He seeks to reflect Christ’s compassion through prayer, presence, and faithful ministry.
His life and leadership are shaped by the call, “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.” Garry longs to lead by example, loving God wholeheartedly and loving others sacrificially, because that is who we are as followers of Christ. His preaching is Christ-centred, biblically grounded, and pastorally applied, pointing people to the grace, hope, and truth found in Jesus.
He considers it a sacred privilege to serve Liberty Family Church and looks forward to shepherding the church family in faith, unity, and love for God and for one another. He seeks to lead Liberty Family Church to see Healesville, the Yarra Valley, and beyond transformed by the love of Jesus Christ.

Gerry BEIMERS / ELDER / PRESIDENT
Gerry is married to Melinda and they have four adult daughters. Having previously served as a Bible translation advisor for the Solomon Islands Pijin Old Testament (Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia) from 1992-2007, Gerry then served as Business Manager of Mount Evelyn Christian School (2009-2024). In addition to being Opa to five (nearly six) grandchildren, Gerry loves off-road adventures, creating his model railway and being a part of the Liberty Family Church community.
PETER ROGERS / ELDER / SECRETARY
Peter and his wife, Jenny, moved to Healesville in 1989, where they have enjoyed raising four children in the beauty of the Valley. A local GP dedicated to family health, Peter is also passionate for families to connect with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Peter keeps active through golf and swimming and enjoys musical theatre.
