You Are Special
"Punchinello! How good to see you. Come and let me have a look at you." Punchinello turned slowly and looked at the large bearded craftsman. "You know my name?" the little Wemmick asked. "Of course I do. I made you." Eli stooped down and picked him up and set him on the bench. "And I think you are pretty special."
This simple, yet profound message from the children's book 'You Are Special' by Max Lucado is something that I believe we can't remind ourselves enough of.
God made us, knows us by name and thinks we are pretty special!
Tell yourself that right now...
God made me, knows me by name and thinks I'm pretty special!
This reflection came after a conversation I had with someone the other week about people not necessarily feeling worthy enough to sit closer to the front on a Sunday morning.
This surprised me actually, because the reality is that we should never feel unworthy to enter into God's presence because there is nothing that we have ever done, or will ever do that will stop God wanting us to draw closer and closer to Him.
Jesus has done everything required to make us 'worthy' again and therefore to not live in this is effectively saying that Jesus hasn't done a good enough job...
1 Peter 3:18 says:
"Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God." NLT
