Fruit of the Spirit - Love

I love being a part of Liberty Kids. I mean, I really love it. There are not many places in today’s world where you can spend quality time with young people, speaking openly about God and His incredible plan for them. The kids want to be there, the volunteers want to be there and the atmosphere is amazing.

This term we are looking at the Fruits of the Spirit. We could easily spend a whole month on each one, but we are doing a fly-by visit; focussing on each one for a week. I would love to invite you to take this journey with us, and each week this term the email reflection will share a little of what we have been discovering about the Holy Spirit and these fantastic ‘fruits’ that God wants in each of our lives. (Disclaimer: some of the content in the emails will be taken from the Orange: 252 Basics curriculum which we utilise in Liberty Kids).

God created us in His image, and He sent His Son, Jesus, to show us the way to live. He also knew we would need help; that’s why He sent us the Holy Spirit. With the power of the Spirit, we can produce fruit that points others to Jesus. Orange defines this fruit as ‘what God is doing in us to change the world around us’.

This past Sunday we started with… love!

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 tells us a little about what love is:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

We love others because God loves us. God gave us the ultimate example of love when He sent Jesus to live a perfect life and die on the cross to make it possible for us to have a forever-relationship with God. God’s love for us can motivate us to show love to others.

How can you show love this week? Maybe it’s in your home, with those you live with or who visit you there, maybe it’s down the street at the supermarket or café. Wherever you are, ask God to reveal ways to point others to Him through bearing the fruit of love.

Please pray for us as we explore these gifts throughout this term. Pray that the Holy Spirit will fill these precious young hearts with these fruits (and ours, too!); that these children may know God fully and then may point others to Him also.

If you would like to personally be involved with this incredible ministry, please come and chat with me. We would love to have you experience Liberty Kids with us!

Have a great week.
