Fruit of the Spirit - Faithfulness

Acts 12 tells a powerful story of God’s faithfulness. James, the brother of John, had just been put to death and Peter was arrested and thrown into prison. Verse 5 really stands out to me, “So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.”

It would have been easy to grieve Peter and assume that the worst was going to happen since it had just happened to James, but instead, the church prayed, faithfully.

We explored this story in Liberty Kids this week and drew out the faithfulness of the different characters in the story: Peter faithfully served God and preached the message of Jesus. The church faithfully prayed for Peter while he was in prison. God was faithful to Peter and sent an angel to help him escape. They could hardly believe what happened, but everyone praised God for his faithfulness.

The bottom line for this week is: Be faithful so others can count on you.

Faithfulness will look different for each of us. Some of us will be faithful to family members who need encouragement. Others will faithfully help friends who struggle a bit. We want everyone to learn that when you are faithful to others, God can do some amazing things through you.

Have a great week << Test First Name >>.
