"We want to see God honoured and cherished through our time of worship each and every Sunday – we want to create a culture of worship that permeates through every part of our church, including through each and every part of our Sunday services. I encourage you – engage in this time. Really engage. Lose yourself in worship. Praise God like you never have before!"
The above quote was from a word that God gave for me to share to us as Church during our time of Worship last Sunday. As I was preparing to lead the Music Ministry during the week, I felt God clearly say that as a church we need to be reminded about why we have a time of Music Ministry as part of our service each and every Sunday.
Why do we set aside this time to sing, dance, pray and praise? Why do we value and cherish this time so much at Liberty?
The answer to these questions is pretty simple. The structured Music Ministry time is a time for us to come before God, enter His presence and enjoy Him. It's a time for us to come to God, celebrate Him, and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to us - no matter where we've been, what we've done, or what we're going through.
If we are heavy-hearted we come before God, give over whatever is weighing us down and thank Him that He is right there to help us get through. If we are super happy and full of joy we celebrate and praise God thanking Him for the life we have in Him! If we are going through a difficult season we still have opportunity to praise God and thank Him that He has not forsaken us, that He is constant and faithful.
This time in our service is really THE opportunity for every single one of us to get involved in praising and celebrating God. We can all come close to and enjoy our heavenly Father through our weekly Music Ministry time! Whether you love to sing and dance or not, this is a time where we have an opportunity to honour God and – as Psalm 100 says – “...make a joyful noise...” to celebrate Him and thank Him for His goodness towards us! This is not a time where we should tune out because we don’t like music, or because we find the music too loud, or we don’t like lifting our hands... this is a time that we should engage and use purposefully – in whatever way we are comfortable – to get close to our Father and love and praise Him.
The beautiful thing about corporate worship is that other people are encouraged and spurred on to worship God in a deeper way themselves, as they see us engaging whole-heartedly in worship. Participation in this time is all about honouring God and encouraging others to do the same. If you have a prayer that God has placed on your heart to encourage others at Liberty, share it. If you have a prophetic word for the church, speak with one of the Elders and then share it. If you feel to speak out in a Spiritual tongue and know that there is someone present who can interpret, then do so.
We really want to see God honoured and cherished through our time of worship each and every Sunday – we want to create a culture of worship that permeates through every part of our church, including through each and every part of our Sunday services. So I encourage you - engage in the weekly Music Ministry time. Really engage. Honour God and lose yourself in worship. Praise God like you never have before! Let's be a people who worship Him with passion and energy and join together in continuing to create a healthy culture of worship in the Music Ministry time of our service.
Who's with me?
