2017: A New Year... What will it bring?
New Year is often a time for reflection, considering what has occurred during the past 12 months, and looking ahead toward the next 12 months wondering what might transpire? I have never been one to make New Year resolutions, but I do believe in making goals. What do I want to achieve this year? Here are some thoughts:
Some questions to ask yourself could be:
- How did 2016 go?
- What achievements did I reach?
- What challenges did I face - and how did I respond?
- In what areas of my life did I see improvement/falling away?
Have I grown as a person:
- Spiritual health
- Mental health
- Physical health
- Relationships with my family
- Relationships with my friends
- Financial health
- Work performance
- Has my golf swing improved (or substitute what suits you :-))
There are many areas of our lives that we can look at and consider if we are happy with where we are at in that area, or do we want to see some change?
If you want to see some change - what is your plan? If you don't have a plan to achieve the goal, chances are you won't. Someone once said "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!" Wise words indeed.
If you have never set a goal or created a plan to achieve it, I suggest you start with just 1 goal in 1 area of your life. Since our spiritual health is the most important, why not start there? It could be a goal to read your Bible every day / attend Church every week / spend 5 minutes praying every day / or whatever suits you.
The key is to set a goal, have a plan, and do something!
My prayer is that when you look back on 2017, you will see the growth that has occurred in the area of your life that you sought to grow.
